Netgear EAX20 and WAX206 Configuration on Web Interface?
I have a NetgearEAX20 access point and WAX206WiFi mesh extender working together in my home. Got their setup done using the Netgear Nighthawk app. However, now when I am trying to manage these devices using the web interface, I can’t see the mesh extender listed there. Some settings can be changed only in the web interface and not the app. However, only the Netgear EAX20 access point is visible in the devices list and not the extender. How do I change the settings of the mesh extender?
Have you been facing the same issue? This blog post is meant to address this very issue and will help you get the ultimate solution for this.
Can’t Access Netgear EAX20 and WAX206 via Web Interface?
1. Power Cycle the Devices
Have you tried power cycling the devices before you access the web interface? We suggest you do this first. Temporary glitches can stop the optimal performance of the devices and hence you can’t see the extenderin the devices list in the web interface.
Power off the Netgear EAX20 access point and WAX206 mesh extender and take their power cables out. Power them up in some time and then launch a browser that is running on the latest version and has the cache cleared from it.Thereafter, use the login URL to access the web interface and see if both devices are listed there or not. In case you fail to go to the settings of your extender then use the next in the list to get this problem resolved.
2. Try mywifiext.net
Have you been trying to access the EAX20 and WAX206 configuration via web interface using the router login URL? In case you used routerlogin.net till now then we suggest you put to use the URL of the extender i.e. mywifiext.net to access the mesh extender’s settings. Since it is a range extender, its URL is different.
Go ahead and use the URL of the extender to access the web interface of the NetgearWAX206 mesh extender.
3. Connect to Extender’s Network
To be able to access the Netgear extender’s configurations on web interface, you should be connected to its network. So, make sure that the PC on which you are trying to access the admin dashboard is connected to the NetgearWAX206 mesh extender’s network.
You can use the WiFi connection by connecting to the extender’s WiFi using its SSID or the network name. In case you can not connect to its WiFi then make a LAN connection between the PC andthe extender.
Pro Tip: In case the login URL does not help you access the settings of your Netgear extender, then you can use the IP address to get this task executed. Find the IP address using the Command Prompt window by using the command “ipconfig”.
4. Put Up DHCP Reservations
If you stillcan not access the Netgear extender web interface then you should try making some changes in the settings. It happens at times that the DNS request gets intercepted at the first point which is your NetgearEAX20 access point. We suggest you put up DHCP reservations for your extender WAX206 and EAX20 on the DHCP server. All of this can be done in the router settings. You should now be able to access your extender’s settings in the web interface.
The Final Note
We hope that you can now access the Netgear extender’s configuration in web interface. We anticipate that you got a clear idea of why you could not get to the settings of your extender earlier. You can now access NetgearEAX20 and WAX206 configuration via web interface at any time and make changes to the settings whenever you want to make any changes to your Netgear devices.
You can get the firmware updated, change the WiFi settings and do much more using the settings of the extender.
